Once again, a software developer feels the need to completely change a feature that has been the same for decades to please a minority, yet claim that the people using said feature are the minority to begin with. In a recent Chrome update, they decided to remove the ability to navigate backward via the backspace button directly. Instead, you now have to hit ALT+Backspace. Their claim is that too many people were complaining about losing form information by accident. And also claimed that 0.04% of Chrome users use the backspace button to navigate backward. I call utter bullshit on that number.

Either way, you can restore the backspace functionality by adding the following to your Chrome shortcut:
Code:
--enable-blink-features=BackspaceDefaultHandler --test-type

Google offers this fix as an extension now as well:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... i?hl=en-US

Really.. if you have such an outcry to revert something that you make an extension for it, clearly you are changing this that should not be changed..

I may possibly understand such a step if they would have given backspace at least one other functionality.
It is without a doubt the most "one step forward, two steps back feature" i have seen in a long period!

Sadly it seems to be a common thing with Chrome. Anytime they change something or are asked to implement something, they seem to always do the opposite and it becomes a major battle with the community. I'd use another browser if there were something else worth using, but Chrome is still the best I've used so far outside of all the annoyances I have to keep fixing with extensions / modding.

In the end, one always stays with Chrome. Simply because the alternatives mostly suck.
